Flaming Lotus Girls

Flaming Lotus Girls is a volunteer-based group of artists who make large-scale kinetic fire art. ​Many of the sculptures have interactive elements, allowing the audience to control the lighting, flames, sound, or other effects.

I joined in 2019 and do a little of everything in the shop from angle grinding to propane plumbing and 3D printing, and coordinate our big fundraiser events.

Mutopia Evolution
Burning Man 2023

Mutopia is a series of evolving plant beasts. As a being, it has germinated and is evolving, creating a zone of growth, mystery and possibility in its wake. Starting as one strange little seed pod, each successive plant evolves as it matures and adapts, willfully incorporating features and forms of the plants, animals, and machines it interacts with in its surroundings.

Sea of Dreams
Burning Man 2022

Sea of Dreams is an immersive sculptural landscape featuring origami boats bound for a magical island of fiery plants and mystical origami cranes.

Serenity
Unscruz 2022 and Burning Man 2019

Serenity ​features a group of three giant, and many smaller fireflies escaping the pieces of a large broken jar.
