The School of Music, a unit of the College of Arts and Architecture, takes pride in its student-centered philosophy and the quality of the individualized instruction provided by its fifty full-time faculty, guest artists and scholars. Enrolling approximately 325 students, the school grants undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of programs that help students develop as performers, teachers, and scholars. We also serve an additional 1,000 students annually who enroll in our high-quality academic courses designed to fulfill general education requirements.

"The Bachelor of Arts degree is for students who desire a broad-based education while developing their musicianship, scholarship, and performance skills. This program combines a core curriculum of music studies with both general education and liberal arts courses."
Music Technology Specialty:
The program consists of prescribed foundation courses in musical acoustics, digital audio, sound design and audio recording. Supporting course work allows students to focus in advanced topics such as music software programming, multi-media, or entertainment systems.
Our Studio:
The flute studio is made up of undergraduate and graduate music education and performance majors as well as students in the music minor degree program. Each student in the Penn State flute studio will be offered an hour-long weekly private lesson with Dr. Seidman.
Our Professor:
Naomi Seidman has been at Penn State since 2012. An accomplished solo performer, she has won the Mid South Flute Competition and the Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition, and was first runner-up in the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition. She was also a semi-finalist in the Beijing Nicolet International Flute Competition. She has performed as a soloist with the Santa Fe Symphony, Kingsville Symphony, Ballet Austin, and the Texas A&M University at Kingsville Wind Symphony. In May 2010, she was invited to perform in the Festival Cultural de Mayo in Guadalajara, Mexico.
